Detailed History: Astalnér was born into a wealthy family of a trader-turned-soldier. His father served in the Valinorean navy during the War of Wrath, but did not join the Host of the Valar to battle Morgoth, as all the Teleri.
Astalnér's family posessed great hatred for the Noldor whom slain his grand uncle at Alqualonde in order to steal the ships from the Teleri. (The infamous kin slaying)
His father was among the first elves who settled down in Eldalondë and traded with the men after the founding of Numenor. He created enornmous wealth after several years. Astalnér settled down not long after that.
Astalnér developed great skills in trading but his love of the sea prevailed. Astalnér hired a ship and seventy men (including 17 elves) and set sail for Middle-Earth. After a long and tiresome voyage, the explorers made their first land fall at the tip of the Umbar peninsula. They founded a small settlement on the coast of Middle-Earth.
During the first months, the Numereans taught the natives the Numenorean and Elven crafts, but they found out soon that Umbar was also home to the Black Numenoreans. Astalnér led his men in two bloody skirmishes against the Black Numenoreans and won both. Twenty four men were lost in total.
By the end of the year, Astalnér left for Numenor to gether more reinforcements, leaving twenty six men behind to guard the settlement. The settlement was attacked soon enough. Most defenders were killed, a few managed to flee to Dol Amroth and send Astalnér a letter, telling him that the settlement has fallen. Astalnér wept openly on reading the letter and vowed to take his revenge on the Black Numenoreans.
His opportunity came not long after, when the Numenorean colonies were under attack from the Black Numenoreans. Astalnér offered to lead an expedition to reinforce the Numenorean forces in the colonies at his own expenses. The offer was immediately accepted and Astalnér set sailed for Middle-Earth. He arrived at Dol Amroth and then marched to relieve the colonies under attack. After that, he led his forces to Umbar, but beacause of bad weather ad shortage of food, the expedition was halted. Several men died of famine during the voyage back to Dol Amroth.
He reamined in Dol Amroth for one more month before going back to Numenor.
